                 The Department of Sanskrit was Established in 1984, to cater the need of the students wanting to opt for Sanskrit as their second language at Intermediate and UG levels.


ACHIEVEMENTS & HIGHLIGHTS

                Department has been offering Lalitha Samskrutam, an Inter Disciplinary Elective course for students whose second language is not Sanskrit. 
With a view to promoting allied subjects that are available through Sanskrit sources, the department designed and conducted diploma and advanced diploma courses on Indian Indigenous Medicine.
The department offered a Spoken Sanskrit course for one year sponsored by UGC.
To create interest in Sanskrit studies in the students as well as in the society. Five national seminars have been organized by the department on Tribal Literature and Culture, Yogic methods of inquiry, contribution of Andhraits to Sanskrit Literature in Independent India, Contribution of Prof Satyavrat Sastry the only Jnanpeeth Awardee in Sanskrit to Sanskrit Literature and Contribution of Krishnadevaraya to Sanskrit Literature sponsored by UGC, ICPR, APCHE and Sri Venkateswara Vedic University respectively.
The department also conducted workshops on Emerging Trends in Sanskrit Literature, Vignanam i.e., science in Sanskrit literature, Vinodam i.e., classical compositions in western tunes.
Arranging Guest lectures on various topics related to Sanskrit Literature to generate interest in Sanskrit studies..
